Taco Salad – Make Your Lunch Box Healthy

The taco salad is a Mexican inspired dish, with many variations, which first appeared in America.The salad is often served as a fried flour tortilla shell stuffed with shredded iceberg lettuce and topped with diced tomato, shredded Cheddar cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and/or Taco sauce.

 

 

Ingredients :

1 1/2 lb. ground round
1 envelope taco mix
1 head lettuce, torn into bite size pieces
1 lg. tomato, chopped
1 med. onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
Black olives, several in slices
1 can (15 oz.) red kidney beans
1 bag (12 oz.) nacho cheese Doritos, crushed

DRESSING (The secret ingredient that makes the salad.)
1 c. salad oil
1/3 c. ketchup
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. vinegar

Preparation :

Brown and drain hamburger, add taco mix, stir and set aside.

In large bowl combine remaining ingredients. Toss salad with dressing and hamburger. Serve immediately.
